Greetings ELs!  Tomorrow the World Cup begins in Russia.  Will you be watching?  The United States is not playing so who will be your team?  I don't usually watch sports but I watch the World Cup.  It is like the Olympics with all the different countries taking part.  I remember watching it when I lived in England in 2010.  I watched the US vs England game.  Our house was full of people: 1/2 were fans of the US and half were fans of England.  It was fun to have friendly rivalry.

So, the next World Cup is in 2022.  How old will you be? Do you know where it will be?

And we just found out the 2026 games will be shared by the US, Mexico and Canada.  That year some games will be in Nashville, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas so you might be able to go to one!  How old will you be?

Eagles

Hi ELs! I hope you are enjoying your summer.  I love sleeping late and not having a schedule.  One thing I have been doing is watching the Sauces Eagles at Explore.org.  My students at SIS haven been watching this nest of eagles since March when the three little eggs hatched.  We watched the mom and dad stay with the little ones and take turns going for food.  Now, do any of you remember what do they mostly eat? And, how many feathers do they have?

On May 31 the first of the three young eagles finally flew for the first time (this is called 'fledge')!  And do you know what?  His sister fledged about 30 minutes later! (this a picture of her take off).   The third sister still hasn't flown.

The parents keep bringing food back to the nest while the young eagles are learning how to hunt their own food.  So, just like kids, they keep coming home for food! :)

I hope you are trying new things this summer too.  I see that Mrs Knight Rorie is skating.  Are you trying anything new?

Hi everyone!  Today I spent the day with my friends on the boat you see in the video.  It is called a narrow boat.  It travels on canals ...
