Hi everyone!  Today I spent the day with my friends on the boat you see in the video.  It is called a narrow boat.  It travels on canals in England.  It can't go in the ocean or even on a lake - only down these canals that are like small rivers.  In the video you see the boat in a lock.  The lock is when boat is locked between two gates.  When it is between two gates, water can be let in or out to raise the boat or lower it to the next level in the canal.  Here you see the gate being opened so the boat can get out and continue on its way.  The woman is winding down a paddle which stops water coming in the lock when the door is closed.
